Uses of detergent
When we think of detergent, we think of it belonging in the utility or laundry room, with its whole purpose of washing clothes. Be it in powdered form, liquid, or tablets, these detergents are designed to get the stains and dirt from your clothes and make them fresh and clean. But your laundry detergent is way more versatile than you may think. It all-purpose cleaning solution that can be used anywhere in the house, be it the kitchen or the living room. Let’s look at some ways your laundry detergent can serve you other than washing clothes
1. Oil spills
This may not come as a surprise to you since the detergent’s chemical formula itself is designed to break down tough stains and grease marks. Any oil spill can be treated with it. Powdered detergent can absorb an oil spill, by treating it right away. Once the spill is absorbed it can be washed with your liquid detergent to get rid of it. Oil spills on the road can also be absorbed by powdered detergent.
2. Glass cleaning
The DIY glass cleaning solution can be made from your liquid or powdered detergent. Take some water in your spray can and add some detergent and shake well to make a solution. This solution can be sprayed on glass surfaces and wiped off to give you a nice clean finish.
3. Bubbles
Who doesn’t love bubbles? No matter how old you get it’s a fun activity, and it’s even between when you’re a kid. Instead of giving your kids the harsh chemical formulas brought from the market, you can make your own bubble solution at home by just mixing some detergent, water, and a few drops of oil. Shake it well to mix the solution and let the kids enjoy it!
4. Carpets and rugs
Stains on carpets and rugs are nearly impossible to treat without professional cleaning services. But with your regular detergent, it can be attended to the right away. To soak up a fresh stain, powdered detergent or baking soda can be used. And once it’s soaked up, you can use liquid detergent in your steam cleaner to remove it.
5. Moping solution
You can make your own moping solution at home by mixing 1 cup of detergent with a bucket full of warm water and this can be used to mop your floors.
6. Drain blockage
Blocked drains are an everyday problem in the kitchen and bathrooms. There is a simple and easy solution for this without the assistance of a plumber. Use 1/4th cup of liquid detergent and pour it down the drain, let it sit for a few minutes, and then follow with boiling water.
